2014

I had a nice chat with my Grandma last night and realized it has been a VERY long time since I last posted any updates of our life's happenings. Boy has it been! Over a year. Here is a review of 2014 January & February- there's not much to say about these months. I have no photos and imagine the days were filled with griping about the cold and longing for Spring. March- Mikaela and Graeme went to the circus for the 1st time. I think it was my 1st time too. You can't tell from the photo but the kids thought it was pretty cool. April- Dave had business in Houston so the kids and I met him there for a weekend. This was the 1st time we'd all been back together since we moved. The weather was nice and we saw lots of friends. The kids enjoyed exploring the Museum District which is where we lived when we 1st moved from LA. We also celebrated Easter including dying eggs and having an egg hunt. This was the 1st year that Graeme did not cry while dying eggs! May- On Mothers' Day we took the kid to their 1st baseball game. It was a lovely day watching the Orioles at Camden Yards. src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik4bnF8aJp4Q9rivsW9h0M0CbdvI4Mf4-xriHQgot5goCnQ3Ws1zpEhPHZTycyDPtuMYs3APTv8UR2TPH0JDY1XKEfz8_-mAjmoiRWE0vGUaVvJ2Poerb-T303iCC-Yl3t8lA4kB4WoaM/s320/photo+5.JPG" /> June- Mikaela graduated from preschool! This was bittersweet. We loved her preschool and the friends we made there. Mikaela was excited though to begin her next chapter in elementary school. We began the summer with a family trip to Grand Cayman. Some friends of ours were nice enough to invite us and we couldn't pass up the opportunity. Dave went scuba diving a couple of days in a row and is now certified. The kids were up earlier than usual every day. They loved the pool and never wanted to leave it despite the beautiful sea being right in front of us. July- we always love July! This year we the Kansas Hochbergs came for a visit and it was a great time! Of course I've misplaced those photos. We went to the National Zoo, spent time at Nana & Granddads, did sparklers, BBQ'd... all the fun stuff that makes for an incredible summer. Dave and I were also invited by our close friends to visit them in Brazil and attend a World Cup match. What a great time we had. Definitely worth the long flight which I am fearful of these days. August- this was a big month. Mikaela started Kindergarten. I always thought I'd be so happy with the time to myself, but it's quiet with her at school all day. Dave and I also got another invite from friends to join them abroad. This time Greece. What a beautiful place! We are lucky and very thankful that both sets of our parents want to watch their grandchildren so that we are able to continue to travel. We were happy to get away but really happy to come home to our family. Soon the kids will be able to take these trips with us and we are excited for that day. We made one last trip over Labor Day weekend to Minnesota for a family reunion and early 80th birthday celebration for Grandma Roberta. The kids always love Minnesota. It's fun to with our big family. September- Graeme started PK 3 at St Johns. He transitioned easily. Thankfully he prefer drop off line to being walked in which makes mornings less hectic. He's in Mrs. Boarman's class who Mikaela had as well. October- this is another fun month of the year full of lots of activities. We hosted our 1st pumpkin carving party which was a great success. We always took a Halloween trip to Kansas to visit our family there. Mikaela and Graeme both had fun trick or treating with their cousins. The girls were all princesses and Graeme was their Batman escort. November- Mikaela turned 6! I am still 29- ha. She celebrated with a gymnastics party with a Frozen theme. Her big gift was getting her ears pierced. We had another lovely Thanksgiving at our house with family and friends. December- this is never a good month for us or hasn't been for the past 3 years. This year was no different. Everyone in house came down with the flu. We had to cancel most of our holiday plans including a trip out West to see family. We did make the best of it though and were able to make cookies with Santa despite mom having a high fever. Nana and Granddad were nice enough and brave to host us for Christmas day despite the risk of getting ill. Those parts were nice, but the rest of the month can be forgotten! Except of course for Graeme's 4th birthday! Had a pump it up party with a super hero theme. It was his 1st official birthday party that was all about him and he loved it. We love Graeme at 4. He's such a funny kid. He talks and talk and talk, all day every day! He's funny and kind, and handsome. He's a social butterfly, always making friends no matter where we go. What a joy to have him in our life. src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGjk0xIeMlHdl6qXl1lHmIeAVK-M1EOh0j0zmcoTS1YcSPRqeb-IuSx_QUL-zgskCEoMD6ZTLGTUBVngmBEz1_nZCh948HGvpncOY3QuaXbFgtk3JqKc7EOQWFulx-ESL95moxl2c0Dpo/s320/photo+1.JPG" /> 2014 was a lot of fun! 2015 has been good so far. More on that later. Love to all.
