Loads of...

Laundry. What else could I have loads of?! I am constantly doing laundry. There is always something in the washer, the dryer, the baskets, in the process of being folded. Today I decided the laundry was taking over our little 2 bedroom apartment. It needed to be dealt with and Mikaela agreed that this was a great idea.

Usually Mikaela pretends to fold so while I don't want to discourage her from helping with the task, I do dread her involvement. It typically means that this tedious activity, which I already despise is going to take twice as long.

Mikaela has been surprising me with her maturity these days and today was one such occasion. She was talking, like she constantly does, and I was only half listening. I was trying to hurry to get the laundry done before Graeme woke and I had to fulfill my promise to take Mikaela swimming and leave Graeme with "the ladies," aka the childcare center, at the gym.

When I looked down to my right there sat a perfectly folded pile of clothes. I mean, she's three! Just goes to show you that there's a lot of repetition going on in this house when it comes to laundry.

Little does Miss Emme know that she's going to take this task in the future...

Photos to come. I definitely got some snaps of this momentous event.

ALOT can happen in 3 months

Hello! I was just teasing you the last time I didn't post for a few weeks to get you ready for the long 3 month break I was going to take. I must say it was for good reason. As some, or maybe most of you know, the Houston Hochbergs are no longer in Houston. Now we're the Charm City Hochbergs and have taken up residence in Baltimore, Maryland.

We have escaped the Houston heat and are enjoying the nice mid-Atlantic weather before the cold winter sets in. So far so good. Everyone is adjusting well although we are not in our new home just yet. Right now we're in corporate housing but will move into the condo on Oct 7th.

Dave arrived in Baltimore a few days before Aug 1st so that he could start his new job at Constellation Energy. The kids and I stayed behind to get the house ready to sell and then went on Minnesota and Portland to visit with family before joining Dave in Baltimore at the end of the month.

Mikaela has started preschool Mon/Wed/Fri in Ellicott City and Graeme has a nanny so that he doesn't have to spend too much time in the car on school days and can nap on schedule.

Graeme just had his 9 month check up today- I can't believe it- and he's growing great. He's quite a little character now and up to all kinds of stuff. Last time I wrote he wasn't sitting yet. Now he's sitting, crawling, pulling up, waving, shaking his head "no"- uh oh. He's a happy little guy with tons of personality.

Mikaela is a sweet heart and quite a little charmer herself. She's turning into such a great big sister and playing well now with Graeme for the most part although she does like to tackle him. You can't really blame her though considering his size.

Here's some photos to bring you up to date on the crew. From here on out I should have more time-hopefully my 5 minutes a day- to share our stories from this beautiful city on the Chesapeake Bay.

Our time in Minnesota was so much fun. Mikaela really enjoyed getting to know all of her counsins there. Rebekah and Katherine were awesome to have around and did some babysitting so that I could get out and enjoy some girl time with my grandmother, mom, and aunts.

The days were filled with fun activities. We visited Como Zoo, the Children's Museum, Cennential Lake Paddle Boats, and spent many hours on the back patio enjoying the beautiful weather. Dave was able to come for a weekend and we bbq'd with the entire family. Mikaela was thrilled to have so many people to shower her with attention and really started to understand the idea of family.

and this one too

On to Portland... I have to say that traveling west with early risers is not a pleasurable experience and neither is staying in hotel far from anything kid friendly, but we managed to have some fun in Oregon. Besides the main point of the visit was to see our family there including Mikaela & Graeme's Great-great grandmother Jackson. We celebrated Grandma Ginny's 80th birthday and GG Grandma Jackson's 99th. It was pretty amazing to have 5 generations spanning a century in the same room.
